Software built by people who have to run it the next morning.

New Idea Works designs and builds custom business software. We use AI-assisted development to ship in weeks, and we run a working company on the systems we build, so we know what breaks at 7am on a Monday.

Services

What we build

Most small and mid-size companies run on a patchwork of off-the-shelf tools that almost fit. We build the thing that actually fits, and we keep it running.

Custom software

Business systems built around how you really work

Quoting, job tracking, scheduling, portals for customers and crews, reporting. Web apps your whole team can use from the shop floor, the office or the road.

  • Hosted web apps, no installs
  • Roles and permissions for staff, customers and partners
  • Built for phones and tablets, not just desktops
AI-assisted development

Faster builds, and AI features that earn their keep

We build with Claude as a daily collaborator, which is how a small team ships a full operating system for a company. We also put AI into the product where it does real work.

  • Design concept generation and image tools
  • Parsing vendor quotes and documents into structured data
  • Automation of the repetitive back-office steps
Integrations

Connect the tools you already pay for

Your software should talk to your accounting, payments and email without someone re-keying everything twice.

  • QuickBooks Online sync, including historical invoice cutovers
  • Stripe card payments with deposits and surcharges
  • Transactional email and campaigns with real deliverability
Migrations

Leave the system you've outgrown without losing your history

We extract customers, quotes, orders, invoices and documents from the old platform, clean them, and load them into the new one. Then we lock the old records so nothing double-posts.

  • Data extraction from legacy shop management tools
  • Years of invoices preserved and matched in accounting
  • Parallel running until you're ready to cut over
How we work

Walk the floor, build fast, stay on

We don't hand you a spec and disappear for six months. The software goes into use early, and we keep shaping it with the people who use it.

STEP 1

Walk the floor

We learn how work actually moves through your company: who touches a job, where it stalls, which spreadsheet everyone secretly depends on. That becomes the design.

STEP 2

Build in weeks, not quarters

AI-assisted development means working software in your hands within the first few weeks. You use it, we watch what happens, and the next release follows.

STEP 3

Run it with you

Hosting, updates and support stay with us. Fixes ship the same day, and everyone's browser picks up the new version automatically.

About

Started on a shop floor, not in a pitch deck

New Idea Works was formed by Sean Tomlin, who owns Designer Wraps, a national leader in fleet vehicle wraps based in New Jersey. Like most shops, Designer Wraps was running on an off-the-shelf management platform that never quite matched the work, along with three other software packages, none of which communicated with each other, so Sean and his technology team built a replacement.

That system became Wrap Command. Along the way it became clear that the same approach, an operator who knows the process, could build software for other companies far faster and closer to the real work than a traditional agency, in a fraction of the time.

That's the company. We take on a small number of projects at a time so each one gets the attention a working business needs.
